What is Ashtanga?

Ashtanga is one of the oldest forms of yoga and is also considered to be the foundation of much of the yoga we see today. The practice is made up of six vigorous series of postures. Our Ashtanga introduces you the standing postures and beginning level floor postures of the Ashtanga Primary Series. The practise focuses on alignment and breath and is taught within the framework of the traditional Vinyasa count.

What are the benefits?

Ashtanga brings mental, physical, emotional and intellectual benefits. Your mind and your body will feel stronger. You’ll rid your body of toxins, reshape the body, improve your flexibility and endurance and re-energise your body! You’ll also bring awareness to consciousness. Additionally, you’ll calm your mind and learn to connect the mind with the body.

What to expect my first class?

You can expect a strong practice that helps to calm the mind, invigorate the body, build strength and flexibility. This class is recommended for those who have some experience with the introductory Ashtanga classes and is not recommended for beginners.  The practice room is warm, but not hot as the heat is built internally through deep breathing.
